The intimate exchanges between both men Kate had taken for granted until now, but they soon smacked her like a bucket of ice cold water. It took her brain a moment to kickstart when Greg addressed her.

"Huh? Oh! Right, of course! Could you? Shit, I feel like such an asshole, forgetting about that." She groaned, guilt genuinelly washing over her. How could she forget about the people she was suppossed to look after? Those who put a roof on her head thanks to their hard work? She'd have to make up for it to them, somehow.

Thanking Greg a few times as he took care of it, Kate turned to Matt then. "Do you wanna grab a bite? I haven't had anything since lunch." And honestly, Kate knew she would starve until the show was done, but Lestat's concert was worth the wait. Now? She was glad to accept his hospitality.

With a grunt, she got on his feet.

"So, you eat human food, too? It's not just..." She pointed at her neck. "Wanna join us?"

Kate's smile was a tired one, but as genuine as always. She closed the distance between herself and Matt, caressing his cheek. "Anything by boring." That was an understatement.

Pecking his lips, Kate took her time and walked with Matt towards the kitchen, taking liberties as they picked from Lestat and his team's leftovers. There was beans and beef and rice, along many dishes Kate did not know, but was willing to try. And of course, the pizza.

Even though the microwave was loud and her hearing wasn't as good as Matt's, Lestat's loud french curses were easy to hear. Could that be...? No, surely not. For all she knew, his ex had moved on, why would he be in contact with Lestat still? He could be, though. After all, it turned out that Lestat was the real deal.

"I can't believe we're at his hotel..." Kate sighed, unaware that even though they had a million things to worry about and consider about tonight, she was still star-struck when it came to her latest, biggest, rock idol.

If he was a murderer he could have had a huge banquet, to be fair.

Then, she continued in whispers. "You think he and Greg...? I mean, I know they're working together and all, but -- God, this is probably how people saw us before we started dating."

Shit, was Lestat yelling louder now?

With the adrenaline of the evening having worn off, there really was nothing better than feeling Matt so close. Kate knew he was being careful, making sure his arm around her shoulders was not really a weight. Even if she was, she'd rather have him there than with some distance between them.

"I don't think anyone could have guessed this is where we'd end the night." Shit, it was the perfect setting for a novel sequel. An Evening With The Vampire Lestat.

Ok, sure, it sounds a little like the title for a talk show. But it could be a nice sequel! The vampire opening up, telling them his story, his perspective on the first novel and what he's been up to since he became a rock star. Offering to turn them? Shit, that would be such a plot twist!

But not as big a Lestat and Greg being a thing. Kate's jaw dropped as Matt confirmed her suspicion. Matt had ways to know these things and Kate trusted his judgement blindly. 'Oh, my God!', she mouthed. "Do you think -- Shit, you think he has a coffin here? That would be so freaky. But kinda fun." Kate's whispers were truly excited ones. "You think he turned him? Does Greg have a heartbeat? This is so crazy!"

As relieving as it was to hear that Greg was still human, it was the mention of the coffin being there what really got Kate's heartbeat going with excitement. Could it be the same coffin Lestat and Louis de Pointe du Lac shared? No, wait, there was the fire...

Either way, it's so cool. "Oh, my God. Is it bad that I kinda wanna see it? I mean, it's like so iconic." And Matt had a point. Kate's jaw dropped as her hands practically smacked her face, clamping over her mouth. Was there a chance Lestat was listening to her fangirling? God, that would be so embarrassing.

As self-conscious as she was, Kate suddenly shared a sheepish laugh about it with Matt. "God, you'd think I've got used to that sort of thing with you!" She pointed out, still in whispers.

Finally carrying the meal back to the common area, Greg caught her up with things. Kate sighed heavily, "honestly, you guys make my life so much easier. We have the best team ever." Sure, she wasn't looking forward to review anything except her pillow tomorrow morning. But Kate was aware that she was needed in the office. Everyone was working hard, she ought to keep up with them. "You're a saint, I swear."

Or Matt's catholicism was a real big influence lately.

"Have you even sat down tonight, Greg? Seriously, you need a break yourself, shit. Have you had water or eaten something?" Kate eagerly encouraged him to join them, even though she was not exactly hosting here.

Probably, after years of working for the Bishops, Gregory would recognize a little of Eleanor when Kate took the reins of something.

"Are you joining us, mister -- I mean, Lestat." Kate turned towards Matt and, not bothering to lower her voice, pretended to be sharing a secret. "He doesn't want us to call him by his surname."

Matt and Kate were so used to sharing a space that they almost didn't need any words. She served him exactly what she knew he would eat and he handed her the glass of water before she even needed to ask. Kate always had a sip before she even took the first bite.

At the mention of their obvious secrets, Kate paused mid-drinking.

"Yeah." Carefully, she placed the glass down. "I think it goes without saying that we all know some big secrets now. And exposing them could cost us a lot." Kate eyed Greg. The guy could blackmail her if he wanted. Sell them to Fisk and see more money he's even dreamed of. Lestat? He didn't seem to care about those games. And in a way, he flaunted his identity to the world. It wasn't much of a secret, it was just hard to believe.

Kate leaned towards Matt and looked at him.

They had never had this talk before. What if someone outed them? They would be arrested, at the very least. What kind of charges would they face? Fisk could execute them on the streets and claim his officers did it on self-defense. He'd talk more shit in the media than he already does.

"What Matt and I do matters. And we'll give our lives to keep doing it."

Kate's doubt over Gregory wasn't one that weighted lightly on her heart. The man had been part of Bishop Security's family for as long as she could remember. He had always been kind, attentive and went out of his way when it came to efficiency and, most important, giving a hand. As he had proven again tonight.

But both Kate's mother and father had also proven that, no matter how much you think you know a person, they can still sometimes surprise you. And not always for the best.

She was thankful when Matt stepped in, explaining their concerns and observations better than she could right now.

Even more so, she was truly grateful at Greg for that olive branch, that gesture of good faith. She smiled at the older man fondly. Remembering Christmas parties, hours after school spent at the office with Kate nosing around, talking to workers and making friends.

It was the strangest part she had ever played, this transition into being called their 'boss'.

They ate in silence for a moment, Lestat's bad mood still obvious. Kate decided she might as well offer a branch as well.

"So, these witches... They came after you for coming out of the vampire closet?" Maybe not the best wording for the situation, given the circumstances. "I mean, for the book and the making vampires a public thing and all."

Watching Greg teasing Lestat helped Kate ease off that concerned edge she had been fighting. She squeezed Matt's hand, stroking his knuckles with her thumb as she reminded herself that none of the people in this room were alone.

They needed to trust each other. That was something Kate had to remind herself as soon as the plans for the rest of the tour were questioned.

"I need to think about the company first." She shook her head, as if rethinking things. "Not the firm, but the people working for me. For us." She gave Lestat a pointed look, one that moved back to the head of security in this tour. "Greg, be honest. You know our team better than anyone and I trust your judgement better than mine on this." It was a tough position she was putting him in, she was aware. Could Greg be objective when he knew that Lestat wouldn't cancel his shows? It was hard to tell. But the one thing for sure is that Greg has worked with these people for more than half of Kate's age. "Do you think we can keep them safe?"

Kate hated the thought of backing out. But wasn't that the right thing by their people if they were not prepared to take this job? Fisk would lavish on this, squeeze every last drop of these news and pretend he had them on checkmate. Bishop Security would lose prestige, too. Their customers would consider them unreliable, capable of backing out if things got gritty. Unprepared to deal with something as basic as a tour.

But was it fair to make her employees face a threat that was sure to come and that they were not even aware of? Her people trained to face criminals, not mythological creatures or covens of witches with a lust for a vampire's head.

The moment Greg endorsed the plan of staying by Lestat's side, Kate sighed with relief.

She hated backing out of a fight.

"You don't need to sign anything. If anything happens, the company has your back," Kate promised Greg. She hated to think of him getting hurt - worse was not even an option - but she would certainly look after him. "Look, I can't risk the rest of my employees. But Daredevil and Hawkeye will be there."

Kate's hold on Matt's hand became tighter, her attention turning towards Matt as she realized she should have checked with him first. "Right? Jess, maybe the others?"

This wasn't just about Lestat. How many people would come to that concert? Were they doing the right thing by them?

She held Lestat's gaze. His almost unnatural blue eyes.

"Bishop Security doesn't back out."

The atmosphere had certainly shifted. Kate, at the very least, was reminded that today that concert had been a victory. Yes, some people were injured. But nobody had died. They had sent a message. And both Lestat's enemies and their own had to face the fact that they were stronger than they suspected.

Kate ate, finding herself sharing conspiratory looks with Greg. She was happy for whatever the man had with her idol, in her heart already imagining something deeper and far more romantic. Whatever it was, it was clear that Greg was happy to fight for the other man. Just like Kate would always stand up again if that meant protecting Matt.

Her plate was soon empty and she found herself checking on her partner, leaning into him and quietly talking, finding a little intimacy. Loving gestures and words. Another reminder of what they fought for.

Kate stroked his hair back. "Should we call Claire? How are you feeling?"

By now Kate knew Matt well. She only had to ask, and Matt would follow her to Claire's place, back home, or stay if only she implied it. He was exhausted and beaten, bruises already showing on his face and, without a doubt, marking his body like a map of wounds. "I think I'm too tired for a lecture." And poor Claire and Luke didn't deserve this kind of late visit. "Maybe in the morning?"

Before work? It was a gamble, trusting Matt would follow. Unless Kate truly needed it.

At Lestat's offer, Kate's attention was divided between both men. But it was clear they were both expecting her decision. "You don't mind if we stay?" She pretty much asked the both of them. Honestly, the hotel was the definition of luxury, something that normally wouldn't phase Kate. But this? This was Lestat the vampire's executive-suite! Probably the presidential one.

"I'm gonna pass-out in the car if we head back home," she told Matt. Besides, the pets would be fine. They were used to early dinners and owners that spent whole nights away from home.

As they all cleaned up, Gregory's quiet and apologetic approach was welcomed with reassurance. "Hey, don't mention it. We wouldn't leave you on your own." She glanced briefly at Matt. "It's what we do."

It was strange, it almost felt like reconnecting with Greg, since she remembered having long chats with the man back when she was a kid. Whenever he was in the office, waiting for her mom to be done at a meeting, Kate was delighted to caught him and catch up. Tonight? She was doing so under a very different light. With the both of them baring very personal sides of each other.

"I know -- I mean, it goes without saying. But please don't tell anyone about Matt and me? It's always such a mindfuck when people know." It demanded trusting people with Matt's most precious secret. If Fisk could get his proof of Matt being Daredevil, he would probably hit with every asshole attorney out there to get them behind bars. Or even have an excuse for the Task Force to take them down.

Thanking Greg again, Kate wrapped an arm around Matt's waist as they made their way to their room. The place was spacious like a regular, expensive hotel room. Sitting on the edge of the bed, Kate leaned in and pressed her lips softly against his. "Let me," she whispered softly.

Taking her time, Kate helped him strip. The red and black armor came off little by little, with Kate stopping to both assess the damage, and pepper kisses over his body as she did.

Hearing Gregory promise to keep their secrets, Matt could tell from his heartbeat that the man meant it. He gave a small nod of his head, followed by a murmured goodnight. There was never a guarantee of course when it came to knowing their secret. It was always a risk, both to them and the people knowing it. Matt couldn't say that he was happy about it, but he understood the circumstances. It had either been reveal their secret or let a lot of people perish. Of course he'd chosen this one. Gregory was a good man. Hopefully it wouldn't bite them in the ass.

He let out a quiet sigh as Kate helped him undress, feeling her lips gently trail over his various injuries. He returned the favor when she was done, letting hands and lips caress her and see where she was hurt. Finally they were both in just their underwear. Matt could hear Gregory entering the room that Lestat was in but he politely directed his focus elsewhere to where it all became background noise. It was easy enough when he had Kate in front of him to focus on, and he guided them to the bed. Sliding beneath the sheets, he curled up with her, kissing her shoulder. In a low voice to make her laugh he said, "So, having sex in your idol's penthouse hotel room... bad taste or a memory you want to make?" Or both.

Finally under the sheets and curled next to Matt, she almost felt like they were sharing something secretive. Like sharing sneaky kisses while hanging with the Bartons. Having a boyfriend over while you were staying with family. As Matt brought it up, all his secretiveness went out of the window as he stole a wholehearted laugh out of her.

It was almost as if Kate could read his mind. "Both, probably." And yet, she was turning towards him, noses bumping together before she claimed his lips. She was mindful about his wounds and bruises, but also shushed both herself and Matt when passion was interrupted by laughs. A sign of the mere joy of knowing they were still alive. They had protected each other to see a new day.

Thoughts about what Matt said kept coming to Kate's mind - Could Lestat hear them even if they kept it quiet? The vampire probably was busy enough to care, she told herself as she pushed those thoughts away.

Their underwear got lost in the tangles that their sheets became, Kate's hair falling like curtains that framed her face and neck. It caressed Matt's chest and shoulders as their bodies rocked like one, sweat dripping down her curves, making his skin taste salty when her lips met his flesh.

It was a fight for control, not letting themselves lost in the desperation of chasing after that peak, not when their bodies were still sore and felt so fragile. And so they rolled over, whispering words of love, caressing each other, finding ways of reaching that edge together while looking after each other.

Kate passed out in Matt's arms with thoughts of how she'd be happy to spend the rest of her life with him.

"I love you," she whispered.

Or even an eternity by his side.

I feel like this is a good place to wrap up the scene, but thank you for indulging me in wanting to write Lestat, LOL. That ending was also so sweet and beautifully written from Kate's POV, I love her relationship with Matt. <3
